Putting together a trip for Aug. using Moose Lake entry point. Looking to lose the crowds, catch fish and add to our waterfall pictures. Would like to do the entire loop but don't want to paddle every day. Is this possible with a 10 day trip? Any lakes we should concentrate our fishing efforts? Primo campsites? Thanks in advance, Jeff.

cwb, Thanks, I'll put that in the file. I'm not sure what entry point yet, the outfitter will towboat us to our starting point. It looks like Agnes could be part of the loop. The map I have doesn't show campsites, are you talking the islands at the north end of the lake? Done much fishing there in August? We've been to BWCA in August the last two years and have found it a bit slow. Leaches eh? Do they travel well? Thanks,Jeff

cwb, Too many Agnes Lakes, must have been a popular woman. I saw you mentioned Nina Moose. We will be entering Quetico from Moose Lake east of Ely, probably Prarie Portage. Still like some advice on catching fish.

i thought you were going in on the nina moose river entry # 16 if yer going in from quetico i cant really help but the leeeches travel exellent !!,
what i did was get a leech locker and we normally get our leeches from voyegeur north i have them put oxygen in the bag and then simply pack them when you get to your site dump them into the leech locker and give them fresh waterand they should last for a long time .
Ive went fishing in aug. and as long as you display the bait right it should produce fish.
i use a red #5 hook and a slip bobber in about 8-10 feet and alwats seem to catch fish on agnes.
the agnes i am talking about is the second lake onthe nina moose river portage i hope this info helps......

Do you already have your Quetico permit reservation? I see you are entering at Moose Lake.

The Man Chain is one of my favorites. John & I took that trip about 3 years ago. Good walleye fishing and some great scenery. Make sure you get a chance to see Emerald Lake!
