REI in Bloomington I-494 and Lyndale

Midwest Mountaineering Cedar Avenue near West Bank of the University of Minnesota

Gander Mountain many locations around the metro area

Galyans One at I-494 and Penn ave very near to REI

Hoigaards Hwy 100 and 36th street in St, Louis Park

That will get you started

The stores Steve mentioned are all great. Midwest Mountaineering has a web site at: www.midwestmtn.com Galyan's also has a store in Woodberry (sp?).

Don't forget thrift stores. For those of us who cannot spend $10 on a fork, thrift stores have a way of offering inexpensive camping equipment (even if it isn't intended for camping). E.g. baked enamel plate at REI: $3.50...used pie tin from Baker's Square: 30 cents. I would use my dollars for a canoe, not a plate.
