Great report! Sounds like it was a alot of fun with some nice fish. Nice trout! The Tow sounds like the ticket along with getting the paperwork done well prior if possible. Thanks for the details!

Thanks for your remarks. It feels good to see that you all enjoyed reading my trip report. Maybe all that writing was worth it.
As for the Laker Moheep, Lower Gons, just off of the peninsula extending out from Slate Lake. And right above the first "S" in "Saganagons" marked on the Fisher E-4 map. I hope I didn't just blow up somebody's secret spot, but it did hold a ton of suspending fish. I guess I'm not really one to keep my sweet spots under the radar if someone asks. If you're like me and you drive 3,000 miles to get here and every year, it's nice to catch fish. With this in mind, I have a certain sense of appreciation for those who are willing to share at least some of their fishing knowledge of the lakes up there. As long as there are a couple fish for me to enjoy every year up there i'll be happy. After all, isn't gaining knowledge on how to maximize your level of enjoyment while in the north country the purpose for this message forum?
Anyway, sorry for the tangent there. On a side note...Does anyone know why it's called "Deadmans Portage"?
Thanks again,

Thank you for sharing that. Its just that I have spent so much time on that lake without even sniffing a laker. I am glad to see someone appreciate that lake as much as I do. I am a catch and release person anyway. I hope you continue your trips.
