Nice report! You really described those "into and out of Boulder" portages well. It made me feel like I was back there. (except I am not feeling exhausted and scratched up now--haha!) Did you see the photos at the end of my report? You might recognize the beaver damn and bushwhacking photos from between Adams and Boulder.

Great report. We were on Makwa and Boulder during the same week. We were glad to have been going downhill from Boulder to Adams, rather than the other way. I'm impressed you navigated the Boulder to Ledge portage without problem. We were coming from Cap and heading toward Boulder but it seemed like there were about four trails heading north out of that creek/swamp area. I wouldn't have known which one to take. Glad you had a good time.
Nice report- I will add that trip to my must do list. I have done a section of that route through Fee, Vee, Hoe, Roe and Ledge lake. If I remember right ledge was nearly defoliated in places and the campsite was kinda rough. Makwa was absolutely beautiful and I wished I could have stayed awhile but I just blew through it. Thanks for the great report.

If I had more time in the bwca I would do this from lake one. But since my average trip is 5 days this could be a hassle. Your discription may help me. Thanks!
Also I was in the bwca that week the water was indeed incredably low.
