ya right!! how are you supposed to answer that!!
you can ask alot of different people and get totaly opposite answer's.........
In my opinion i like smaller water and if i were to choose one place it would hand to be entry point #16 the nina moose river into nina moose lake .
you can get to nina moose lake in about 2 hours if you and the person you are going with knows how to paddle, not to mention the bluffs overlooking the lake are a site to die for and the fishin' is pretty good also.
so theres one mans opinion ,but you know what they say "everyones got one " so lets hear"em....

I would go Lake One into numbered lakes, escpacially if it is a trip with newer canoeists. Lots of great scenery.
2nd choice would be Little Indian Sioux into Hustler. Stop at Devils Cascade and enjoy Upper and Lower Pauness and lakes around Hustler
3rd choice-Moose up to Lac La Croix. Stay one night on Agnes-head for Lac la Croix on a day trip to see the pictographs, down to Nina Moose for day 2 and out.
just my opinion.

definitely entry point #16. head up the moose river to oyster lake (about eight hours, can be done in one day if you start early) and then sit back and relax. we caught northerns and lake trout (it's a deep lake)...from the southwest corner of the northern section of the lake, there is a trail that leads through old-growth pine forests (trunks eight feet around) and the campsite across from the entry portage (just east of the neck between the two parts of the lake) is very well set up, with a short climb to a rock "chair" overlooking the lake...we also saw a bull moose and a young moose on our way out...

Found this one, thought I'd see if opinions have changed; especially since the blowdown and fires.
I like Brule Lake as a quick entry point in to many different options and experiences. At over 4000 acres you have many options on Brule. You can head off through Juno, Vernon, Echo, Cam, South Temperance, Wench, the Cones, the Bovines, Lily, and a couple of other area if you want to bushwhack. They can offer up waterfalls, overlooks, hills, burn areas, fishing, wildlife, solitude, and swimming just to name a few.

I try to keep out of opinions on trip planning, too many options and personal opinions.
I will input for this one, EP14 Little Indian Sioux North for either.

I agree. Also like the Rose Lake area suggestion.

My wife's favorite area is Pine Lake. She likes the hills and trees, Johnson Falls, and Vale Lake just to name a few reasons.
My kids really enjoy South & North Hetman for the pictographs and The Kelso loop out of Sawbill. They like the dolman and the outfitters store at Sawbill. The girls like it for the shower most of all!

Crocodile lake...one moderately tough portage out of East Bearskin. Mostly a dead end lake so not too busy. Long narrow lake west to east, narrower as you go east. Great walleye fishing. Secluded and good wildlife sighting possibilities. If you go in early season there are several small creeks worth a bushwhack upstream. Crocodile falls between Croc and E Bearskin were roaring when we were there and the bushwhack from the portage to the falls was so worth it. On its own perhaps not the prettiest area but the combination of the high water and the roaring streams, few people, great wildlife and good fishing rates high for me for a 2-3 day trip.

Agree with Pine Lake for a short 2 or 3 day trip. Very easy in and out - portage wise.
Johnson Falls are pretty scenic IMO and the short portages (without canoes) to Vale and Gadwall are scenic as well.
A bit OT,and no way intending to hijack this thread, but I noticed a post in this thread from Eglath (2004) and wondered what happened to him?
I frequently search the maps and trip reports on this site and have seen lots of old posts, pictures and reports from Eglath over my 3 years visiting this forum. Just curious why an old moderator doesn't post any longer?
