what is the best bug spray to keep the blood thirsty bugs away??????

Spray - Ultrathon by 3M
Lotion - Bite Blocker

Where can you get the 3M stuff w/o having to mail order it? Do places like Wal-Mart have them?

I've seen the spray can type, but not the lotion type at WAL-MART. Cabelas carries both.

My vote goes for Ultra Thon as well. I have used both the spray and the creme with equally good results. It is alot easier on the skin than the 100% DEET I have used in the past.

Well, I purchased some ultrathon this past weekend and will use it next week. I like the idea of the lesser concentration of deet being applied to my skin. I'm still going to bring a small bottle of the old standby (95+% Deet) just in case. I'll let you know how it works.

Personally, I always stayed away from the deet and used the citronella.

Let's admit, mosquitos in the BWCA are the most impressive in North America! I was shocked the first time I heard the whine of thousands of them approaching from the woods behind the tent! Like clockwork on that first summer trip, at 9:30 p.m. the air would fill with a thunderous cry driving me into the tent without a campfire. Bugjuice? Does anything stop these predators? I wanted to share an experience with 3M Ultrathon. We used the spray on said summer trip, and the the overspray actually melted a Nalgene bottle! It didn't destroy it of course but the specks of Ultrathon are still visible like a fine spray of acid. Yikes!
I now prefer September after a few frosts...
