How long is the CANPASS good for? I can't seem to find out on the web pages or the application I downloaded. I think I've read here that it last for 2 years. I'm planning on a Quetico trip in 2007 - probably June so wondering if it is too early to apply yet.
It is good for two years and expires on your birthday.
Example. If your birthday is on May 20th it is best to apply after your birthday so your RABC would be good until your May 20th birthday in 2008, if your permit is issued before your birthday date it would expire in 2007. The expiration date will be clearly noted on your RABC when it arrives in the mail.
It takes about 4-6 weeks to get back so apply early enough to insure you have it before your trip. If you are looking at June 2007 I would wait and time it based on your birthdate. You really don't need to apply until maybe next March-that would give you plenty of time unless you have some legal issue that would slow it down (DUI or other felony conviction).
