i recently purchased some new equipment at cabelas and am impressed enough by it to write this. (i live in nebraska about 2 miles from the outlet, so i do a good deal of shopping there)
the Cabelas XPG Dry Sacks
this piece of equipment is about as good as any thing i've come across. for 20 bucks i can store all my clothes and my sleeping bag in a roll top dry bag that will fit in the lower compartment of my internal frame pack. the bleeder valve lets you remove all the air from it and i have never been able to compress my sleeping bag this much. plus, i can roll the top and blow some air into to make a pretty decent pillow. anyway, this just made my list of "must have equipment"
the Cabelas Whitetail Series Gore Tex Rain Jacket
if you don't mind camo and the $180 dollar price tag BUY THIS.
in the two weeks i have had it, i have worn it turkey hunting pretty much every day. it has proven very breathable and i haven't gotten wet yet. it also packs into a self contained pouch about 3"x7"x4".
anyway, i had my doubts about buying such expensive equipment, but i am convinced it was worth it.
oh yeah, i am not affiliated with cabelas in any way. in fact, i used to hate their equipment, but have just been so impressed with these two items that i felt i should pass it on.
