Minnesota/USA is in talks to trade the odd piece of land nicknamed the Northwest Angle on Lake of the Woods which is land locked inside of Canada for moving the boarder from east end of Lac La Croix to west side of Saganaga Lake from the middle of the river/lakes to the northern shores of those lakes and rivers.

Essentially Americans would lose the land and water territory of the NWA but would gain water navigability on the north half of all of the lakes like Crooked, Basswood, Knife, Saganaga etc.

No campsites will be allowed on the north shores of these lakes as the Land will remain Canadian. Sarah Strommen, commissioner of the MN DNR posted this an update on the DNR website: DNR: Federal Land swap
