Saw 2 mosquitoes at a metro dog park last night. 3/13/24.

Plan accordingly!

I found a hornet in the house a few days ago (or should I say it found me). Gave me a good scare!

We are in central MN about 30 miles NW of the metro and we had a few mosquitoes join us for our dinner on the patio. The bats were enjoying the early emergence of bugs.

Boxelder bugs and deer ticks out around Brainerd.
Lot of ducks showing up today with majority of lakes becoming open.

I literally had to start tick treatment for dogs in FEBRUARY! How insane is that?

Oh my. I'm trying to prevent them from returning to my eaves above a balcony. So far, so good.

I just give our lab the chewable year round. A bit more expensive that way but I don’t have to think about when ticks start or end each year.

I’ve had moths hanging out on the siding in the Minneapolis area. We also started the dog on his tick stuff a month early.

What a truly insane year so far. I haven't shoveled my driveway once. The snowblower hasn't been started this year and still has last years old gas in it.

great year to buy snowblowers, skis and snowmobiles. Lot left in the strores. Last year they sold out.

So - any entomologists on here? I wonder if the dragonflies will also likely appear early? Guess that mid-May, "no bug" trip is gonna look a little different.

I know this thread is about bugs. This is what bugs me the most.

Bought myself a brand new Ariens Deluxe 24 in November. I did all the prep work - greased and anti-seized the axel, changed the oil after a half hour engine break-in, ceramic-coated the metal, changed the metal shoes to plastic and god knows what else. Used twice on slushy snow. No real test. What a letdown!

It was around this time last year when we had our heaviest snowfall of the season and the last challenge for my old Sears before I retired her. Only thing in the 14-day forecast is to summerize the Ariens.

Not to rub salt in your wound or get too far off track, but I just got a Platinum 24 for $450 off. Pretty rare to get that kind of deal on an Ariens. If anybody is thinking about a new snowblower, now is a great time to buy.
