I'm prepping all my tents for the season's adventures. Bought a tube of Seam Grip+WP (regular) for most tents and Seam Grip+Sil for the silnylon flies and tarps.

The Seam Grip+Sil says to "store in cool, dry place" - OK that makes sense.

Seam Grip+WP says "store in the freezer." Hmmmm.

Has anyone ever done that - store it in the freezer?

Would that be only after it has been opened? Or straight from the store before use?

If you've done it, do you have to remove it a day before you want to use it? Or does it somehow remain flexible?

I've started storing in the freezer after opening. Seems to improve the shelf life. It flows just fine right out of the freezer.

Thank you. Who knew?

Thanks for this tip.

I've gotten into the habit of keeping a list of all the items that need some seam sealer, then sealing everything at once, right before the season starts.

Mostly because once opened, those tubes are a ticking clock...getting longer life would be good!

Great idea to save it all up.

Seam Grip storage and use is addressed on the Gear Aid website.

Once opened, the Gear Aid products that I have used became hard and unusable during storage. I squeezed the air out, replaced the cap and placed them in a sealed zip lock bag for storage. I have never placed them in the freezer, as suggested on the Gear Aid website.

I felt that the Gear Aid seam sealers I have used require diluting before applying to my satisfaction. Gear Aid website addresses diluting.

Thanks for the idea of diluting it and the link. I'll wait til it has been opened before using freezer.
