What is your favorite Chowder Mix?

I would like to make chowder on our BWCA trip this summer and was looking at mix options. One person in my group doesn't like vegetables so I'm considering going with a mix that is potatoe heavy and light on carrots, etc.

How does Cache Lake mixes rate? Or Bear Creek mixes?

I like the flavor of the Bear Creek Stuff. Haven’t taken it in but I bet it would do the trick. Heavy potato if I remember correctly.

We've made a fish chowder using the Bear Creek chowder mix the last couple years - good stuff, popular with the team.

I really like the Bear Creek mixes, but haven't tried the Cache Lake.

Another neat bonus of the Bear Creek products is that most are gluten free. The soups are very popular for my group trips. Also, Bear Creek makes three varieties of 'cup of soup'. Potato, Chicken Noodle and Cedar Broccoli. I think the potato is fantastic with crumbled bacon. Throw in some chunks of pike or lake trout, an onion and dehydrated frozen veggies and you have a nice fish stew.

I've used the Cache Lake fish chowder and the wild rice asparagus soup. Both are good and the portions are very generous. I've substituted chunks of summer sausage in the fish chowder when we failed to catch fish. I've added pouched chicken to the wild rice asparagus soup when I've wanted a 1-pot meal with added protein.
