This went very well. I put on a single layer of fiberglass. The expoy went on smoothly and soaked the fiberglass mat. I didn't sand the patch area as it looked "grippy" enough.

Should I have put on two mats of glass?"

I moved the canoe out of the way in the basement and set it up on it's side. The side of the canoe flexed and the patch delaminated from the canoe, about the size of a deck of card. As I cut and pulled the loose area, I could tell the adhesion was not good and I pulled off the entire patch.

Today, I roughened the area to patch, cleaned it well and applied two layers of fiberglass. No problems putting it on and the result looks good.

How do I know if I have adhesion?

I think I may put on an outside patch or do some spot epoxy. Then just start using it and see what happens. I'll keep a roll of duct tape handy
