I’ve thought about and dreamed about this grill probably for 7 or 8 years. I always needed something else from my gear list. This wasn’t a necessity. But I took the plunge and got one for Christmas. It’s a thing of beautiful craftsmanship and will certainly get passed down when I’m gone.
I haven’t used it yet but will highly recommend anyway. Can’t go wrong with a lifetime investment like this.
It’s a Purcell Trench “Voyageur” grill with case. Total cost with shipping was $101.00

Banksiana: "A great bit of gear for those that cook over a Quetico fire. So well designed and sturdy."
I like when I buy something I know will last my lifetime. Quality over quantity. I remember back in 1982 saving money for a 10 degree down sleeping bag. It was from a small startup called Back to Basics. Real craftsmen handmaking their product. I still have that bag today. It’s awesome.
This grill is the same. A great investment that will last a lifetime. Btw, it’s incredibly light. Like, it weighs nothing.

Lol I bought that same grill last spring for my trip.
But alas, we had a fire ban so my grill is still brand new.
Warning, be prepared for a few forum members to lambast you for paying so much for a grill when you can buy a fire grate on Temu for $2.99 with free shipping. At least that's what happened to me.
I surely look forward to using mine this spring!

I'm guilty of that line of thinking. Wish I'd invented a Purcell grill!

Oh crickey. That is one smooth ride man. Very nice. But why pay so much for a canoe like that when you can buy a Raddison canoe for so much less???

Lol. Yep I’m guilty of buying premium lifetime gear for my favorite hobby. I’ve got the Swift solo with graphite trim, the ZRE Rec bent shaft, and now the Purcell trench grill.
Hey, here’s a pic from when I started in my early 20’s. Check out my gear. The Grumman Eagle was a birthday gift from the girlfriend. I think it was $350 new in 1983.
No boots but converse high tops. Cotton work pants and T-shirt. I think I had a wool button down shirt and a Coleman one burner stove. A nylon duffel and a backpack. No pfd but a floating seat cushion.
So, my point is that I used what I had to get out there and make it work. I built my “kit” one quality piece at a time over the years. I used a backpacking folding grill that would warp over the fire for many years and finally replaced it with the best grill on the market. And I’m going to enjoy the heck out of it.
