Looking forward to my Sept 10 trip. This is my first time to have a larger group (6 people).
Does anybody have a suggestion for Walkie Talkies (USB rechargable) for under $100 that will work well across a mile or so of a lake. Not looking to talk to distant travelers. I just don't want to get back to camp after the group splits up for fishing different spots and hear the fishing report "Man, we killed 'em". Would like to hear "Hey, get over here, we are killing them"
Amazon comments seem consistent,,,, that "extended range" isn't extended and sound quality sinks.
I guess I can use what I have heard on a few trips of people yelling across the lake....ugh..
thinking something like this might work Bushnell LPX350

Most of the Motorola talkabouts are under $50.00 a pair and communicate a few miles. One set I saw was for 4 units and was up to 3 miles for $65.00. I’ve brought then on trips for exploring other campsites with our groups. Be sure to get a set that has AA batteries for power. Another good tip is put each one on a neck lanyard for ease of operation.

I'll second the Motorola Talkabouts. See here: https://www.cabelas.com/SearchDisplay#q=motorola%202%20way%20radios

I spent a little more and got the waterproof ones. They've served us very well for several years.

After one of our radios got left in the canoe and it rained on it so it quit working, we started putting them in ziplock bags. Waterproof and you don't have to take the radio out to talk.

Or consider marine VHF radios. Decent waterproof units are not that expensive and you're going to get a lot more range. Plus, in the ocean you will have full access to Coast Guard and other vessels in an emergency situation. Some inland areas are also monitored by coastguard on VHF.
