Is this the optimal setup for staying hydrated in the BWCAW???

Considering bringing minimum ten gravity filters next trip and stringing them about strategically in convenient locations around camp. Thoughts, Input?

One if filled with wine, right? Fun game!

Seriously, I feel like I fill mine up 10 times everyday.

Yep, us firefighters always said, PCPO.

Pee Clear Pee Often.

Seems like something is a bit off about that pic...

My original post was in jest of course but I am always part of 5+ groups and we bring all of our gravity filters. Really does help to have several running at once. And they sure do beat the heck out of the pump filters, the ones I've used in the past were usually only good for half a trip before breaking.

Next trip we are going to feed one of our higher quality systems into a cheap gravity filter bag so we have a makeshift tap for filling bottles. I always seem to spill a ton trying to fill my Nalgene with the flimsy collapsible containers or water bladders.

Interesting concept. I would recommend a thicker rope for holding multiple filtration systems. WATER weighs more than you think!

Since this seems to be a semi-serious post, here is how we are usually setup for water:
One Platypus 4 liter system with dirty water bag, hose and filter and the clean water bag, along with a 6 liter MSR clean water bag and either another 6 liter MSR clean bag or a 10 liter MSR bag. Once everything is filled while we are setting up camp it is easy to maintain at a full level. This gives us either 16 or 20 liters of clean water at all times. I don't want to hesitate to drink liquids up there - staying hydrated is important. We always have a spare filter with as well but we are still going strong on the first filter we bought some 10 years ago.

Works great and has become a ritual for us to find the best location and get it hung up.

Siphoning from a 5 gallon bucket to a 5 gallon container. Set it and forget it, once per day for a group of 6.

4pm is a whole different method.

Now that is genius. Guessing you pick up a lot less sediment when siphoning it like that. Good for filter life.

I love the idea of using a paddle. My filters always get sappy hanging from a branch. Definitely adding the paddle method to my arsenal.

Optimal setup is to drink straight from the lake.

The main problem I see with these systems are the dirty water bag is too small. The one I use holds 2 gallons. Then for the clean water I use a collapsible 3 gallon holder. It works for our groups of 4-6 guys. Just keep it filled and bring a flush syringe and extra filter.

What I am most impressed with is the crisp crease in those pants and the clean shiny leather camp shoes. A fine sartorial display sir!
