Keeping with the theme of old canoe trip videos, YouTube recommended this one to me: https://youtu.be/F0cdeFmKBiU
The video follows a 9 day Boy Scout trip out of the Charles L. Simmers Canoe Base on Moose Lake in 1969. It’s really interesting to see just how much has changed. The lack of PFDs is perhaps the most apparent.
Regardless, it was a fun to watch the way the boys canoe tripped. I was never a scout and being a younger person (25) the old school stuff is all new to me. I wonder how many of them kept coming back to canoe country? I would love to hear if any of the older folks on here had similar trips through the scouts?

I like that at a mile from their EP they stop to “stow away the life jackets.” Classic times, that’s how my friend’s dad taught us to trip when I was young.
First 8-10 trips I made we never wore them. Now I always wear one.

That definitely sounded like Dave Moore from WCCO television. Unmistakable voice.
I truly enjoyed that video. I was impressed that those young Scouts never let those canoes scrape the shoreline. It would be refreshing to see more of that today. The scraping of canoe on the shore makes me cringe every time.
