I purchased these Tropicfeel Lava shoes last fall for two reasons. First, my wife and I spent many weeks in SE Asia this past winter and I wanted a lightweight shoe that would be good for walking and good for being around water. Second, in the endless quest for the perfect wetfoot wear I thought they might work well for canoe tripping.

They worked well in Asia. I really appreciated having a shoe that could serve many purposes so I didn't need to pack extra footwear.

I just returned from an eight-day trip in Quetico. The shoes worked as well as I had hoped they would. They've got a broad enough sole to be stable, they dry more quickly than anything else I've tried short of sandals or crocs, and they had excellent grip on the rocks.

FYI, I replaced the laces that come with the shoes with standard golf-shoe tie-up laces.

Thanks for the quick review. On our trip our entire family had Keen sandals because I've had good luck with them before. But I've also never been wet all day in them. By the second day 3 out of 5 of us had blisters and on the third day the soles fell off my wife's pair, which to be fair were over 10 years old. I ended up wearing my Merrell Moabs the rest of the trip which are comfy but take forever to dry. Wool socks helped.

The Tropicfeel Canyons look like a decent choice too for something a little lighter weight.

These look good. I may try them. Are they true to size? When I buy running shoes I always go a size bigger. I don’t know why running shoes are always smaller than advertised.

They fit true to size. I typically wear a size 12 in most shoes and my Tropicfeels are a 12.
