in 2014 the botanyguy linked the E. J. Crossman book "Quetico Fishes" to this site. In the appendix, it lists the fish species in Quetico by lake. I thought it was worth repeating the information more currently on the site. There was also a DNR report which did the same thing, but I can no longer find it.

If you want additional data on fish in a given lake in Ontario you can find it at the Fish ON -Line, link below:

Fish ON-Line

Also the PP site lists the specific species in each lake, but I think these data are pulled from the link above. Michael Furtman’s book also lists species in each lake.

There isn’t the same level of info/detail on Ontario lakes as there is on MN lakes (lakefinder).

John, check your email. I sent you a copy of the 2018 information that I had received from park biologist at the time, Brian Jackson. This may be the DNR (MNR) report you were thinking of.

How accurate is that book? I noticed it didn’t list any smallmouth in Mack, but I’ve read here that it contains tons of trophy smallmouth.

It does indeed contain plenty of nice size smallmouth bass.

I'm not aware of any accurate way to know what fish are in each lake in Quetico other than reports/consensus. A little digging around on this site can find fishing information on all but the most remote of lakes in the Q.

Crossman was a legend in Fisheries biology in North America.
Smallmouth bass have spread throughout Quetico since that book was written, Yes they were already established-but and still spreading.

That's what I figured...the book was written before they'd made it to that lake.

Very true. The book also lists lake trout in Kawnipi and Crooked Lakes. I've never heard of anyone ever catching trout from those lakes. And I've tried too lol
