If you want to combine the BW trip with the walleye fishing, consider Crocodile Lake. Great walleye fishery, lots of eaters and some decent sized fish too. Dare I say it can be almost "easy walleye fishing" but obviously no guarantees. Also has pike and some pretty decent sized Perch.
Very nice lake just one moderate portage from your entry lake. Permit is #66 Crocodile River but you actually enter at the landing in the East Bearskin campground. Must stay all nights on Crocodile. A very remote feeling for being just a couple hours from your car. There are 4 campsites but it is often not real busy because it is a deadend lake, nowhere else to go. But for a short basecamp trip focused on relaxation, fishing, scenery and a feeling of solitude this is a good option. At the east end of the lake the Crocodile River gets pretty narrow and intimate and makes for a pretty cool short daytrip. Just a thought...
Sunrise view from our campsite, 2nd on the lake going west to east. Very nice site.
View down the Crocodile River for a fun and scenic little daytrip
