i've looked around alot all over the net to see if handguns (for protection) are a no no or not and haved turned up nothing. i sf anyone knows of any law saying they are not allowed please notify me.
also (yes i know guns and beer dont mix) i was currious about bringin beer in with me i've only seen restrictions on food containers made of glass or metal but nothing on beer or liquor. granted packing out the cans will suck(stinky beer leftovers) but im more than willing to deal with it.

Yes, you can have a gun in the BW. The rangers will ask you if you have one or not. I have never brought one but I'm sure they will have some additional rules to go over with you.

Beer and other spirits may be brought in... but they must be in plastic containers. There is at least one place in Ely to get beer in plastic "pop" bottles... probably more. Spirits may easily be transfered to a plastic container.

So that means no cans or glass containers still applies.

For a shorter base camp trip last year, I made a homebrewed strong Belgian ale and bottled some of it into 2 liter plastic pop bottles. We brought a few along on a shorter trip. When we got to camp, we put them in an extra anchor bag with some rocks and sunk then down 10 feet or so to stay cool. It worked out well.

Sure, I let it condition and carbinate in the bottles for about 3 or 4 weeks prior to the trip. I tend not to under carbonate as a general practice, but even so I don't think you will have problems. Make it a good strong batch though, no use carrying in weak beer.
