Any information on Davis Lake would be helpful. This lake is just N. of the Cone lakes after Paddling through Brule. Fishing? Which campsite? It seems this is destination and not a through lake. Just wondering if someone has been there before. Thanks
I was there about 5 years ago. We spent our time on Brule and the Cones and only hiked to Davis to see it. Saw tall granite cliff. Very nice. Didn't do anything more than that. Only good fishing we had was on Brule. There is an island just south of the stream heading into the Cones. South side of that island after sundown we hammered the walleyes. Good luck.
Thanks for the info. We ended up missing Davis and stayed on Middle Cone. The week ended up very wet, cold and windy. I had a great time. Davis will have to be another trip. Thanks for the reply.
Davis Lake was pretty, good camping, but slow fishing for us in late Aug. I know people that have caught pike in there. The portage is pretty steep into there from North Cone. Have done very well fishing in North and Middle Cone, for walleye, bass, and nice pike. Huge smallies in the Cones. Also have done very well in the Cone Bay area of Brule and the islands just outside the Bay for walleye in late summer and nice smallies early and late in the season.
