On June 20th, I will be going to these lakes from Snowbank. I was wondering if anyone on the board could give me some information on these two lakes, as far as 1) Good campsites, 2) points of interest, 3) day trip opportunities, and 4) fishing for Lakers. I want to go over into Sagus and some of the smaller lakes nearby and fish, and into Hatchett for walleye, but would love to catch a few lakers in those lakes. So any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

We caught some eye's and pike on hatchet. When the big lakes are rough, that's a nice lake to be on.

Only picked up one laker on Thomas dragging a floating rapala with a bottom bouncer. One of the others caught a decent walleye doing the same. We didn't stick around to long on the big lakes fishing, just covering ground but trolling as we did.

Camped on Gerund, wasn't impressed too much.... we did hit it the year after the storm so the site was in poor condition... we had been rained on for three days and kind of got chased there by a storm... so, all in all it might not have been a bad lake, just bad circimstance.... That same trip we camped on Ima... nice site we just didn't fish too much cause of the wind and rain... in fact... the theme of that particular trip was rain... every day. Still fun though.

My suggestion would be get to Wisini. I've been through that lake a few times now. There is a camp on the point in the middle of the lake that's really cool. There are lakers in that lake. Really cool rock cliffs on that lake.

Hey Hex, We have kind of had a change in plans... and may not be able to push all the way to Fraser or Thomas the first day... may just stop on Ima... You said it the above post that the campsite close to the entrance to Snatch was a good camp site... any more details possible? Also did you do any fishing from the shore? I think another guy and I could day trip over to Wasini from there with no problem and spend the day fishing... thanks

Oh, I think the site on Ima was OK. We were kind of getting slammed by wind there so didn't do too much fishing. We did putz around in snatch (Whoooa!) but didn't catch anything back there.

Check out the campsite on the island on the south side of Thomas. I give it five stars. Nice open site with plenty of tent sites. Good west and north view. Easy walk to the cliff top for a birds eye view. Firewood is unbeleivably plentiful due to storm damage. Last fall the big flat rock table was rebuilt while we were there. Check it out. Sagus too is a very pretty little lake, stayed on the campsite at the narrows. Nothing special but a nice site just the same. Lakers are tough. By june they seem to be running deeper again. I have had limited success with trolling crocodile spoons in chrome and chartruse or chrome and orange or blue. If walleyes are on your agenda you can't go wrong day tripping down to Insula. This lake is a walleye factory and one of my personal favorites.
