My son and I hiked into Isabella River via The Powwow trail entry #86 on April 21 at midnight. The aurora was in full swing that night and we stopped mid trail and turned off headlamps to watch the pillars of light. We got both hammocks and tarps up by 130 am and a fire b4. Great for night training.

Awesome. Love seeing the aurora.

Not only does night travel teach a different set of skills, but the wilderness is a different place at night, and I think a lot of people miss that as they sleep right through it.

Looks like you found a campsite that was pretty well spared.

Yes there are a few green areas on the Powwow where the firefighters made a stand. Isabella River is still a 4 star for me with the rushing water and cedar oasis amongst the burn. I will be back up on trail in ten days - the peak of another aurora with no moon till early morning. Hoping to get some footage with a friends camera setup.
