I just finished the first of 4 covers. They hold the hammock, heaviest underquilt, top quilt and seperate bug net. Made of sil-nylon.

Makes set-up super fast and packs as a coil in a pack or compression sack.

It only weighs 2.8 ounces.
I think using it will be on a personal preference basis. A couple of the family think they are great - others can't be bothered. They each have their reasons. Base campers want their hammock set-up protected while they are out of camp fishing and the travelers think it will make set up and take down easy and faster.

Looks great! If you were to do it again would you do one continuous section? Did you add any pockets to stash the suspension on the small ends of the tubes? I'm playing with the idea of adding an integrated bishop bag in the middle of mine to make the snake skin a compression sleeve of sorts but then have a stuff sack to absorb both sides all in one unit. Thoughts?

I did a prototype with a single tube - it didn't want to work well over the middle thickness and tended to push too much to the far end as you pulled it on. I would stay with 2 sections.

I did put a stuff sack on each end to hold the end carabineers when packing and the tails of the tree straps when hanging.

With a full set-up - hammock, bulky under quilt, top quilt, and unattached bug net - while in the Slug, it easily compresses easily into a Granite Gear "Medium" size compression sack. I just put the tree straps on the top of the compression sack and it is all in one unit. One of the kids keeps his tree straps separate so if it is raining, he doesn't open the Slug until the straps and tarp are up.

Now that I have the pattern and figured out my process, a set of 2 takes me about 2 hours form cut to hang. They are really pretty easy. I do have a pattern of sorts if you are interested.

I would be interested in seeing the pattern. Could you e-mail it to me?

I'd be very interested in the Lazy Slug pattern, as well. Thanks in advance Grandma L.
