So - I have the Outdoor Vitals underquilt. I think its rated down to 40 degrees, but after taking inventory of low temps between April 1 & December 1 (each month) and knowing how much I love camping in the shoulder seasons... I think I need a more robust UQ. (I can always bequeath my OV to Basecamp Kid).
So - I was watching the latest Shug video and he talked about Loco Libre. Anyone use this company? Also considering Jacks R Better Greylock 4 (zero degree since I like to be warm), but see that its just 3/4 length. I think its 56 inches long, and since I'm 59 inches long, it'll be more like a 6/8, or 7/9 on me.....
Anyone forsee any problems? Anyone use the Greylock from Jacks R Better?

I have JRB's Greylock. Used it for several years but got frustrated with all the fiddling it took to keep it under my hammock. Purchased a full-length hammock about three years ago and have not used the Greylock ever since.

If I used a prusick on all four corners - and at 59 inches tall - to prevent it from sinching in... do you think I'll have problems?
Maybe for the money I just go to the Loco Libre?

As far as underquilts, I was told that most problems with fitment come with the 3/4 quilts. Seems easier to set up a full length quilt. I went with a full length, and haven't found it fussy at all. Maybe a 3/4 will act the same for you, since you are shorter?
I was very pleased with the service and quality I received from Hammock Gear.
You should look into their offerings. I have the Incubator 20, and have slept comfortably down to 27 degrees.

Shoot them an email, or call. They make quilts to order, so maybe a custom length/width will suit you better? Same goes for other manufacturers, give them a call, I have found them to be very helpful!

There really are so many options when it comes to the cottage vendors. Personally they're all going to get you what you want for a similar price. If you wait til sale season (fall) you can for sure get a deal. I'd recommend one of the site supporters, Enlightened Equipment's quilts or any of the other smaller cottage vendors. They'll have great customer service and most likely help you with any customization you'd want. If you want to DIY part of it but not the whole thing Wilderness Logics is a great way to save a few bucks.

I think that you would be very happy camping in the shoulder seasons with a Hammock Gear Econ Incubator 20 underquilt
Hammock Gear just started offering the Econ versions of their top and bottom quilts last week at truly amazing price points. They have warmer and cooler versions but for a bottom quilt I think the 20 degree hits the sweet spot for most people.

Woah! Thanks for posting. This price point is one I really like!
What is the difference in their Econ version? I also like that they offer a 10 degree UQ. I think that might be what I go with, or a zero since like I said, I sleep kind of cold....(my BWCA sleeping bag is a zero degree bag for example...) and one can always migrate their down if its too hot, or adjust. ;-)
Thanks all. Definitely looking hard at Hammock Gear now!

i have a full, 58 inch 3/4 uq from kick ass quilts. it fit's my dutch hammock perfectly. no fiddling with fit, it stays in place, and keeps me warm down to 25 degrees. that's the coldest i have been.
if i were winter camping i may consider a full length uq.
