I'm considering buying a Garmin Etrex Legend CX GPS unit. I was wondering where I can find topo software for the Q, the Bwca, and if possible woodland caribou park. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

You need two different software packs - Both offered by Garmin. Central US Topo for the BWCA and a separate one for Quetico. I have the Garmin 60CS and like it a lot.
Azalea over on QJ offers free overlays for the BWCA that enter every campsite and portage - out of the box these packages are accurate, but miss 99.99999% of the portages and campsites, including some that have certainly been in use for 10,000 years. Azalea's program solves this elegantly.
Buy it well in advance of your trip and spend weeks learning how to use it! These are feature rich products.

garmin topo-canada covers north of the border. play around for a day and you're ready. garmins are pretty intuitive machines. take it with you in the car-good way to get started.
saw the garmin 76 on sale at basspro for $99-a good buy. this unit was replaced by the 60 series. the 76 series used to retail around $400. the 60csx is an excellent unit that you should be able to find discounted online. retail is about $450. get a color screen unit if possible.

Mooseplums- Just for your info, if you have not bought a GPS unit yet, I found the Garmin 60CS for a lot less then the list price on eBay- I got it for $225 so if you look around I think you can get a good deal on one, the color screen really enhances your ability to use it. Beemer has the same unit and I think he would second my opinion.

I got the 60csx. I got the Minnesota Lake Master Micro SD offered by Garmin and it has all the BWCA on it. I used a file that had the portages and campsites to download onto it. It's really sweet.
Bought the 60csx for $324 on ebay.
