03/18/2008 08:18AM Great report! I'm contemplating a similar route this fall, and reading this was extremely helpful (and entertaining). Amazing how fast dry conditions can change to wet. I'm also encouraged by how few people you saw, even in September. Thanks for posting. |

02/12/2008 09:03PM Great trip report. We went in on September 28th & had great weather, but we too were cheering on the rain when you guys were in! The streams & rivers were running like it was spring in the first week of October, some of the portages were awful close to where the whitewater started. Too bad you couldn't get more fishing in. |

02/11/2008 02:02AM Aye Drifter is right is was a "good" trip overall. Although I believe your new nickname is "The Weatherman". It seem like everyday I can remember of the trip the first thing I heard in the morning is "Yup, I believe its going to rain, Again..." Oh, is it June yet? |

02/10/2008 03:09PM Excellent trip report. You're a pretty darn good writer. It also was neat because my trip overlapped the days you were in. I was in off the Echo Trail but we had very similar conditions. And the red sky you saw in the morning that one day was the same thing I saw. Glad you got to hear wolves again. Last I heard them was in 2001. I'm about 90% sure that I will go to adams and Boulder this way in August with my son. I haven't seen any of these lakes and I'll make sure to reread this before I go. Thanks for taking the time to go into all the detail. My only question is - biscuits and gravy?? No oatmeal? :) |

02/10/2008 10:34AM As I sit here listiening to the 40+ mph winds and the cold (9 degrees outside) I am warmed by reading your trip report. I very much enjoyed it and the pictures too. It helped my thoughts wander north to the place we all love! Bring on the spring, let's get out there soon! Thanks, great report! |

02/10/2008 10:13AM Loved your report and pictures. Was that direction in August, 2007 but headed to Alice. Glad the water was higher for you. Not sure what is better or worse -- rain and wind, or heat and low water. I guess a combination of both is good. Glad the fire ban was lifted just before your entry -- camping without a fire is, well, not sure of the word, but just is something you need to have just as the gear you pack. |

02/10/2008 04:11AM I really enjoyed your report this early AM listening to the -30 degree windchill sitting by my woodstove with my stinky dog. My 9 year old son and I went from Kawishiwi Lake to Kawishiwi River west of Malberg this past summer. I really liked the river area and will return some day to explore more of that river system. I really enjoyed following your report with my maps and thinking back to some of the same areas. Thanks for taking the time and sharing, Buck47.... |
