Outstanding report and pictures - first rate!

(How do you get the pics to be full sized, not thumbnails?)

Eglath,

I enjoyed your report, a nice style to it. The pictures are outstanding and having them larger adds a dimension to your trip experience. Although, it did take my computer a while longer to download, it was worth the wait.

Thanks for sharing.

Great Pictures Eglath. How do you get the pictures to be bigger?

Really enjoyed your trip report. Your short narrative with bountiful pictures captured my full attention. Three questions: One, what kind of camera do you shoot? Two, did you take a tripod? And three: Did you know that your link to your other PICTURES? is dead? Thanks again for sharing.

Great trip report, eglath, & fantastic pictures.

Thanks for the comments -- I'm glad people enjoy the report!

The pictures are big because they are not loaded on the bwca.com website -- they are linked from my Flickr page.

RoJoYo -- I mainly use a Sony DSLR-A100 (I also use a Sony DSC-P100 point and shoot for shots while traveling). I did bring a tripod...mainly for moving water and sunset/dusk shots, though on this trip, the water shots were done without the tripod. I have changed the "Pictures?" link to my Flickr page of BWCA shots...thanks for the heads-up!

Wow, you take some excellent pictures. I really enjoyed your report. I can't wait to take a solo trip now. I was on the fence regarding a solo trip previous to reading this but I am all about it right now.

wtgmonkey -- thanks! photo opportunities are one of the reasons i like the solo trip so much...during that week i took nearly 900 pictures.

the solo trip is definitely not for everyone, but i absolutely love it (took three just last summer). if you're ok being alone in the woods (especially at night) and not talking to anyone for lengths of time, then i'd say go for it.

reading is another good solo trip activity. if you don't read much, i'd recommend moving camp each day.

I am in winter mode and finally catching up on reading reports. Beautiful job with the report and pictures. Several pictures toward the end did not load.... not sure if that is a problem on my end.

Solo. 6 hours from lake One to Insula. You don't mess around, do you? That Wilder area has had my attention a for a long time. It was nice to have the photo log. The area still has my attention, only more now.

Thanks for the report

Great report. You have some great photos! Wow, very impressed. I found my self wondering if I would be able to make a solo trip. Someday I think I will have to give it a go.

Very nice Eglath. I like your attention to detail both in your pics and your thoughts.

Curious to what your menu is. there were several shots of a lone lidded pot on the fire. I've gone soloing and want to know more about things we soloists eat while on the trail.

Also, what's your opinion of the new tent?

HPD -- I was very happy with the timing to Insula. For one, I did not run into much (if any) congestion on the portages. Also, on day one, I rarely stop for lunch or anything similar -- I stick a couple of Clif bars in my pockets and just go until I get to camp (I set up camp, then eat a late lunch).

TomT -- For dinners, I took Knorr pasta sides and Thai Kitchen noodle packets (usually two per dinner) which are like Ramen, only better. For lunch, I bring sausage and cheese with tortillas (for the first few days) and tuna in the foil packets with tortillas. For breakfast, just instant oatmeal.

I am a big fan of your trip reports. This one is one the best reports I have read. I have to read again to take it all in. Thanks very much.
