Does anyone know of a decent vacuum sealer for under say $60 or so. I tried a couple cheaper models in the past and they ended up being useless.

Like anything else - you get what you pay for. Save your money and buy the best you can afford. I bought a Foodsaver Professional II model years ago and it still works fine. There are better ones available today. I would say mine is at least 7 years old.

There are some foodsavers in the 60-80 dollar range. Does anyone have experience with these?

Agree with Izzy, Buy a good one and buy it once.

I agree with Fitgers and Izzy...you get what you pay for. I too have had a Foodsaver for 10 years and it has worked flawlessly. It is worth paying for a model that works well and lasts.

FoodSaver Mini Plus
Limited to the 8 inch bag. I've used this model for 2 years, still working fine. Not under $60 but close.

+1. Same for me, but got mine as a present. Wife got it on sale for under $60. Works for what I need.

I have two sizes of the Food Saver vacuum sealers. I first bought the smaller size and then bought the bigger size. We buy 1/2 a cow with another couple and these come in very handy for the steaks and roasts. Go to a Kohls store and get one after christmas on sale. Pikehunter and I use it for our meals to seal them after the dehydrator.
