I know there is a place online where you can get single servings of condiments, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. ;-) Specifically, I'm looking for some packages of lemon juice and salsa. Not sure where to get those. Anyone? Or should I try one of those lemon-shaped deals for the lemon juice? I don't need quite that much, though. The online place is minimus.

Hmm, found lemon juice at minimus, but not salsa....Still would like to try to find lemon juice locally though.

Try the following website. We haven't ordered from them as I have been able to put together enough condiments from our local deli, but this looks good. www.packitgourmet.com

I've never used them myself, but people on the backpacking sites have good things to say about PackItGourmet. Apparently its a very responsive mom 'n pop shop.

All my salsa(for tripping) has come from Rudy Tacos, or Taco Bell.

Thanks for the packitgourmet tip. For their freeze dried veggies, they estimate how many cups the weight is, which JustTomatoes does not do. So for the peas, they say 2 oz is about one cup. Nice info to have! (I realize now I ordered WAY too many peas from Just Tomatoes, lol.)

My guilty pleasure is the breakfast burrito at McDonnald. They have packets of their 'picante' sauce which is basically salsa. If you only needed a small quantity, get a couple burritos and ask for extra packets. I like to bring in a couple packets of mustard and mayo anyway, so why not salsa?

There is a company called Mi Viejita that makes both a red and green salsa. They sell it in 1.2 oz packets. One package makes 10 ounces. You pour out as much as you need and just add water. Not the stuff I would serve at home but very acceptable for the middle of nowhere. I find it in Mexican supermarkets here in the Chicago area. They used to sell online, but not anymore. If you go to miviejita.com, maybe you could write to them and find out if their stuff is available in your area.

For lemon juice, look for True Lemon, Woodman's handles it. It coems in small packets that equal, I think, 1 tablespoon. My wife CAN'T drink her tea withour lemon, this travel very nicely.

Why not just get a couple of small containers from Nalgene and take some from your home supplies?

I get my "salsa" packets from McDonalds. They have a breakfast burrito. Go in the morning and ask for a hand full. If you get the teenager behind the counter you can usually get about five or six at a time.

I have a question: Anyone ever see olive oil in the single packets in a retail establishment? I saw they where available on a website, but it is hard to justify spending $5+ to ship a couple of dollars worth of packets.

Nola,
I think they have both lemon juice and salsa/taco sauce at our local hyvee in the cafeteria area. If you'd like I will check and I could send you some.

Get a little squeeze bottle at REI and pour some of your own olive oil in there. Less than two bucks and you get get a whole lot more than an ounce or so...We keep one in our kitchen pack inside a ziplock baggie in case it leaks. http://www.rei.com/product/605499

Olive oil won't go bad. I just keep refilling it each spring.
I do the same container with dish soap also.

Subway has 90% canola 10 % olive oil packets, 5/16 oz. I found a few at a party where a subway platter was served.

I have used the True Lemon and True Lime mentioned above. I found them at Cub. True Lemon Work great. However, the small squeeze lemons/limes you can get at the store work well and don't weigh much.

I agree with the the crew as far as grabbing some extras when at McDonalds/Long John Silvers (they have tartar, too)/etc.
