Thinking about Beaverhouse entry, I would like your thoughts and suggestions about which entry to use and where to exit. Trip will be 8-9 days long. looking for a slower pace with several layover days, fishing is a main goal. Thanks for your input. this will be my 22nd. trip to the park, just havent used this access before! Anthony

I did a 5 day solo loop out of BH with a Cirrus entry point and then towards Sue Falls, across to Kasakokwog and back through Quetico Lake to BH. Could have been 4 nights easily enough - I had terrific weather and ended up with a layover last two nights on BH.
Next time, if I was staying in Atikokan day before and/or after, I'd probably get a shuttle to Lerome Lake and head to Sue Falls, and work from there, with a pick up at BH. There's no parking at Lerome. If not going to Atikokan, either of the entry points served by BH ranger would be fine - though Quetico would probably make slightly more sense if picking up permit at ranger station.
Can't go wrong.

I agree with BillConner01,
A loop would be your best bet. I would go with the Quetico Lake entry and roam from there. There are lots of options in that time frame, even with layovers or basecamping. I would swing up into Cirrus and then back down into Quetico with a possible day trip to Jean or just stay on Quetico the whole time with day trips off to some of the nearby lakes. Fishing is good either way.

I've done both entries. I prefer Quetico Lake entry over Cirrus Lake for the following reasons:
1. Although fishing is good in both Cirrus and Quetico Lakes, the easier access to Kasakokwog is via Quetico Lake and McAlpine Creek.
2. If you visit Sue Falls in late summer or fall, water flow may be low. After the long paddle across Cirrus (14 miles), this could be disappointing (been there!)
3. Quetico Lake is pretty long, but has many more islands than Cirrus to block the wind.
4. More, and better campsites on Quetico Lake, compared to Cirrus.
I recommend using Quetico Lake as a conduit to visit Kasakokwog and Jean Lakes, returning to Beaverhouse via Quetico. This non-loop trip would allow for more fishing and layovers. Excellent fishing on Kasakokwog and Jean also.
Cirrus is a good lake, but I prefer it for a shorter trip when I don't intend to visit other lakes. Considering the size of the lake, really only a couple good campsites on Cirrus.
By the way, Beaverhouse Lake is very beautiful. I think a lot of paddlers quickly paddle through and overlook this gem.
However, if you like to PADDLE A LOT, a loop of Beaverhouse-Quetico-Cirrus-Kasakokwog-Quetico-Beaverhouse is the way to go.
Just my two cents. Your mileage may vary.

Anthony,
A couple of us are entering Beaverhouse just after this upcoming Labor Day (using Morris Camp for outfitting since 1978). We're going the Cirrus Lake route this year (8 days), but did the Quetico Lake route a few years back (take-out at Nym). I find what Lambo wrote about Quetico Lake accurate. We like to have a couple of layover days for weather, fishing, or relaxation. Gave up trying to race our way through the park years ago. Hope Sue Falls doesn't disappoint; if it does, well... that's OK - you're still in Quetico! :)
If you happen to be at Morris Camp around our time, we'll share a beer with Moose. If not, have a great trip.

Thanks so much for your input so far, keep it coming. Thinking about entering Quetico and exiting Nym or Lerome.
AdamX My brother and I will be at Morris camp July 21. Have a couple cold ones, then off to Beaverhouse. We hope to be camped on Quetico lake sometime that evening.
Thats my plan for now but it can change, but we wont care because we are in the Quetico. Anthony

If you do put in at BH and head to Cirrus you might consider the portage just near put in. Easy. And a pro for Cirrus - less traffic and fewer people. I found several nice campsites - and only stayed one night on Cirrus. But I also strongly favor loops over out and backs.
And it's all wonderful!
