I'm sure there are other places, but you can order fishing licenses over the phone from Walt's Dry Goods in Atikokan. Phone number: (807) 597-4433.

I always get the Conservation license....it'll help you save a few bucks. You are limited to two walleyes a day, which is a great plenty for a good shore lunch.

Besides, Quetico is so fished out that there's only about two fish up there now. ;-)

How does this work with the new OUTDOOR CARDS we were sent last fall? Can you purchase a license now (over the phone)and not have to worry about using an OUTDOOR CARD? Does anyone really know how these cards are to work with the fishing licenses? I'll see if I can find anything online about this.

The outdoors cards are good for 3 years and you are supposed to use them to order the actual fishing license every year.
Calling the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (1-800-667-1940) is the best way to get it and they'll ask you for your outdoors card number.
Or if you don't have the outdoors card, they'll help you obtain one!

Found this statement online, sounds like you have to have an outdoors card now before you buy a license.........
The automated system will mean that all anglers and hunters will need a unique identification number. That is why MNR will be extending the requirement to have an Outdoors Card to non-resident anglers and hunters, effective January 1, 2009. The Outdoors Card will be required to purchase an Ontario fishing or hunting licence, except for a one-day fishing licence.
Non-resident anglers and hunters will be able to purchase their initial Outdoors Card by filling out an application at any ServiceOntario office or Ontario fishing and hunting licence issuer. There are over 1,800 licence issuers located throughout the province.
The paper application will serve as a temporary Outdoors Card until the permanent card is received in the mail.

I had my outdoor card sent to me late last year. When I ordered my license a couple weeks ago they asked for the number on the card. Took 1 week to get license this year as opposed to several weeks last year without the outdoor card. I don't know if the card made the difference or not?

You would think that the Ontario Government would figure out a way to allow you to purchase a license online from the comfort of your computer and print it off. We have been doing this for years in many states in the USA. Wish it were so for Ontario.
Just doesn't seem it should be so complicated?
