Planning a trip or two for this summer. I've never been to Insula, so I'd like to do that, but Mrs. Lundo is concerned the Pagami Creek fire has rendered the area not-very-picturesque. LIS North also looks cool maybe staying on Lynx. We (I) like to fish and we typically base camp and take it pretty easy.
Your thoughts?

I've been to both, and if I had to choose between the two I would go to Lynx, less people and prettier in my book.

Have never gone in through Lake one but I hear that is a very busy route. I love LIS and points beyond and would go that way myself.

I've been to both. It's an easier trip to Lynx, IMO. Maybe not easier but definitely shorter. Much less paddling. The 220-rod to Shell is easy, there is just a swamp to float across about 2/3rds of the way through.

I stayed on Lynx in September and we really liked it. If you camp there, be sure to hike the portage to Heritage as there are some huge red pines on it. We also paddled back to Shell and crossed the swamp, then stashed the canoe and hiked to Devil's Cascade on the Sioux Hustler. It was a great day trip.

The north end of Insula didn't burn so that would still be very pretty. From there, you could day-trip to Fishdance to see the pictos.

Avoid the big crowd - go in September or go in LIS.
