We are newbies to the BWCA, and traveling with 3 children (ages 12, 9 and 6). Any tips or suggestions regarding good campsites in the paddle area of Seagull Lake (realizing it's first come first serve)? How are the island sites? We have one bigger tent.

Any other tips are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

maureen, my 1st question is how many adults/canoes are in this group with 3 kids ? if you click on entry points and when the map pops up click on the red balloons for some campsite feedback from previous campers.

2 adults, one big canoe (renting from Tuscarora). Thank you for the advice regarding the red balloons - we will check it out!

Alpine Fire border magenta, Ham and Cavity Fire borders in red. Three Mile Island looks to be in the middle of the unburned area but was burned in a controlled burn early 2000s.
Trails End Campground, most of the campsites were not burned.
I'd recommend the campground if you are staying on Seagull.
The burnt areas around the lake are interesting and have greened up well, but lack shade.

use caution when the wind picks up, seagull/west side can get nasty at times. campsite 2133 is a nice site.

I stayed at #465 on Seagull and would go back if ever in the area again. It also was a very nice site!

Thank you all for your feedback! It's very helpful. I think we'll just paddle along the shoreline up to the North side of the lake and hope that we locate a nice campsite - sounds like (and looks like) many wonderful options. It will be an adventure for us, for sure! We'll have to post pics after the trip.
