Numbered Lakes Water Question

Hi y'all - planning a trip for 3rd week in September to start at EP 30 - maybe a weird question - is the water in the numbered lakes clear or stained? Does stained water taste any different?

How many portages once in lake 2-4 to get to insula? Hudson? any other lakes for day trips?

The water in the # lakes is kinda of in the middle between stained and clear and I would guess the water clarity is in the 7-10' range. Stained water does taste different ( from tannins,, throws the PH off-- like on Larch Lake off the Gunflint) but imho-- you shouldn't notice much tannin taste on the # lakes.
From Lake 2--- 3 portages to Hudson. From Hudson to Insula, 1 longer portage compared to the first 3 into Hudson from Lake 2. 1 Portage from Lake 1 into Lake 2.

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.
