I am planning a trip with 2 of my kids to Polly lake in about a week. This will be their first BWCA trip. If anyone has traveled that route from EP 37 recently, I would appreciate any travel info. How is the fishing for instance? I thought I would keep portages to a minimum for a first trip. I did this route about 5 years ago or so and from what I recall the portages are not too bad. We hope to camp on Polly at an island campsite.
I have never gone this way myself. It is a good route and Polly has some good fishing.
Be prepared to hang your food pack well and make sure it is packed well and the food smells are at kept to a minimum. Polly has been a bear problem area for a few years now. The good news is it has not been a big problem this year to my knowledge. Watch your food on portages and make sure it is secured well, hung high in a tree and seal in the food smells as best you can at night.

Just got back from this route, today. The water is low on the creeks between Kawishiwi-Square-Kawasachong. They are passable but prepare to work. Fishing wasn't spectacular,Kawasachong or Polly. If you don't want to push to Polly there is a nice camp site directly across the entry into Kawasachong from Square. Have a good trip.
