Is that creek between Bear Trap and Home passable? And on to Angleworm? Looking for some side trip options.

No. Take the portage into Gull. Be VERY careful that you are exiting at the portage and not the campsite area just next too it. We accidently took out near the campsite and picked up the Angleworm hiking trail instead of the portage path. Made for a LONG day (and our trip started at the Anglowrm EP.)

Just realizing you are going south and not north. Although the creek is still likely impassable, picking up the portage going TO Home from Gull shouldn't be a problem. Just be careful about staying on the portage trail when you cross the Angleworm hiking trail. Have a great time!

that little creek probably is impassible, never enough water. spring creek, just to the west is passable if the water levels are up. this is real wilderness here, expect current, beaver damns and lots of meandering. the most accessible real wilderness in the bwca.

I was camped on Beartrap once, and in early evening, heard a terrible thrashing and clanking of aluminum gradually moving closer from the woods over by where Home Creek dumps into the lake. A crew of two canoes soon started paddling across Beartrap, and, being curious about the navigability of Home Creek, I went out to see how their day had gone.

Never have I seen a more haggard group of paddlers. They had left Home Lake in mid-morning, and said that hardly any of it was able to be paddled, and that there was lots of trees/brush in the way.

So - you CAN make it through by mostly bushwhacking. But don't expect a leisurely paddle. I think they went upstream, but I doubt that going downstream would be much easier.
