Tepee Lake is just west of the Granite River Portage, looks to be something around 75 rods (guessing). It is well off the beaten path, could be a fun day trip and is good sized. Not a clue as to the fish it would hold, seems to be land locked.
Im not sure i want to mess with it, i will have middle school kids with me but sometimes they get boared with fishing and are up for something like that. Could be a hidden gem.

anyone with experience heading that way or the Granite river route in general, would love some info, never been that way myself. Good Campsites, rought portages. Burn Damage? anything would be great, thanks

Camped on Granite about 10 years ago and thought we'd take a little side trip after an early supper (June days in the BWCAW are long). 3 in a canoe, we paddled and portaged over to it. Thought we wouldn't see anyone. Don't recall portage being bad, or anything remarkable about the lake, except we did run into a couple canoes, which surprised us. Didn't get close enough to talk with them. So, it wasn't as "Remote" as we thought! TW

Interesting...so there is a "portage?" It isnt on any of my maps. I assume at the north end of tepee? You did see canoes back there (which surprises me with no marked portage), did you have any fishing luck? Did you try?

the lake finder says it has Pike so i thought it could be decent. I know that many times the lake finder tells me pike and most times i catch more bass in these lakes than i do pike. I dont trust that all that much.

My old maps don't show a portage into Tepee, but the Lake Finder info notes a "1/4 mile portage". So there was probably one there, once. Intriguing little lake off by itself!

According to rook.org the lake has a maximum depth of 22 feet. And the lake is 96 acres with 2.6 miles of shoreline.

The last DNR survey back in the 70's caught a lot of medium sized pike, but stated that there wasn't much forage for the fish. Probably why they didn't net any large ones.

I've never been there, but it might be interesting to go check out. You would at least have privacy there for sure.
