My friend and I are planning a 3-4 day trip to the BWCA. I've been before but for longer trips with more experienced paddlers. Can anyone recommend a spot to put in where we could base camp with day trips and good fishing?

Snake River or Little Gabbro would be good. Day trip options to Gull, Pietro, Clearwater and Turtle if base-camping on Bald Eagle Lake or Gabbro. Depending on which lake you're on, you could also day trip into the Isabella or Kawishiwi Rivers.

What are you looking for a lake with no portages to set up on and then do day trips or portage in to a lake and then do day trips

Gabbro

liz to horseshoe

brule

Seagull

Cross bay to ham lake

lake one to lake three or just stay on lake one

Another option would be to stay at one on the national forest campgrounds and do day trips from there.
Superior National Forest camping

Here is some more detailed info on individual campgrounds. Detailed camping info
