We are heading into EP16 on thursday. Anyone been to Lac La Croix/Iron Lake?agnes fishing lately? Also wondering if the portgage into Oyster is worth the trip for trout? If so what to use there for bait? Any help appreciated. Cant wait!

two steps:
1) buy a leech locker
2) buy leeches

Trout fishing is tough this time of year, they'll be down really deep and it's hard to know what depth unless you bring out a portable fish finder. I'd stick with targeting walleyes, northerns and smallies. Lots of those to catch on LLC and Agnes.

I agree that trout would be really deep and tough to get this time of year especially with the warmer temps this year. However, I still think the portage over to Oyster is "worth it". The nice paddle along the Oyster River to the lake and a trip around Oyster Lake make it worth it. I guess if your interested in maximum fishing time you'd probably not agree and want to spend your time on Agnes, LLC, and Boulder R area.

Oyster is worth seeing, but as others have said I would forget the trout, and go for the walleye, and pike, in Agnes, and LLC.
Nice area, I have been there at least 20 times. I haven't been there in several years now, and I sort of miss it, but there is so many lakes to see that I haven't seen. I'll go back someday.
