I am wanting to make a loop From Baker Lake via he temperance river to Cherokee Lake and back via Bear lake and Smoke Lake, but I cannot tell from the Fisher Map F-12 if the Cherokee creek is passible and if the creek from Bear to Smoke is passible. Has anyone make this trip?
I've never heard of Bear Lake in that area. If there is a Bear Lake near Smoke I'd have to say that the creek to it is not passable.
Cherokee Creek is passable as well as Ada Creek which leads you to Sawbill Lake. From Sawbill portage to Smoke, then Burnt, then back to Kelly.
I have made the trip many times. It is one of my favorites. I think it is great paddling with many great campsites. Cherokee is a beautiful lake, though the fishing is not great. The fishing is pretty good on the rest of the route. Good moose viewing opportunities.
