Heading to Pine Lake end of the month and have a stupid question on Johnson Falls location. I hate to assume, but how do you get there? I see two portage trails at the west end of Pine Lake, is there another path to the falls that is not on the map? Or do I take the south portage to a trail to the falls? Or do I work upstream from where the stream empties into Pine Lake?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is a portage trail nearby that leads to Canoe lake. Also another across the way (north) to Little Caribou. Neither of these are the trail you want.
Basically, just paddle upto the small stream running into Pine lake on the extreme west end. This stream leads back to Johnson falls. Once there, it should be fairly obvious. There is a maze of short offshoot trails here, but they all eventually hook up with the main trail running along the left (south side) of the stream.
Be careful once you start nearing the falls. Nothing too serious, but the gradient increases & there are a few spots where you could slip.
You probably know this already? But, there are 2 seperate falls. They are similar in size and beauty. Be sure to see them both!

Yup, TB as always has it. Also, if you go to the Pine/Canoe portage you can also hike from there - just a little longer hike.

It really doesn't matter where you start on the trail.
Where you start on the trail depends on where you land your canoe. Sometimes you have to land further back as others may have their canoes "parked" closer already.
The trail may be wet and have a few logs to step over. The tricky parts are near the falls where the trail is steeper. As I said, there's nothing too serious. Just take your time, use caution and watch your step and you should have no problems.
ENJOY!!!!
