We always enjoy our May trip, as there are no bugs. I've never been in mid-May after such an early spring. What should I expect in terms of bugs, and what extra precaution/preparation should I take?

there were mosquitoes last weekend that were after blood between LIS N and Moose River N entry points. There weren't a lot, but they were there. Unless we get a good hard freeze, i think the bugs are going to be about 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule this spring.

I'd bring the bug dope and the head nets for sure.

I suspect you (and me for that matter) will be encountering Mr. Blackfly in mid May this year.

Doh! Count me in anyway. I'll be there May 22. Just 39 days to go.

Crud. Always try to beat the little buggers myself. It's a real pain when they're hatching and hungry.

the ticks are out in the duluth area, for sure. I imagine other bugs are getting ready to bite you as well.
