i want to plan a trip to lake disapointment but don't know the best way to get there. What entry point would you put in at and how many days would it take to get there? I have heard that Lake disapointment is a nice lake based on the campsites and fishing. Is there any truth to that?

You can find all the information you want by doing a search here on Lake Disappointment... Quickest way to get there is by Snowbank Entry and it definitely is not a Disappointment for fishing.

Check out snakecharmers trip report. He was there with his son a bout 3 weeks ago.

Put in at Snowbank-one portage of about 140 rods and thats it. However if you got some time go up to Ima or thomas lake. Beyond the 140 into disappointment the portages are pretty easy but fairly frequent. Nice little trip. I've entered there quite a few times.

When we went to Disappointment a few years ago, we too used the Snowbank EP. You can either portage a fairly long portage straight into Disappointment or you can opt to go through parent and have 2 portages that are shorter than the one long one. It is up to you. We went for the long one.

Either way, you will probably want to get on the water early. Snowbank is a huge lake, and you will want to beat any midday wind if you will be crossing it.

As to Arkansas Man's comment, I agree about the fishing. Very good fishing on this lake, esp for smallies and walleyes. A friend of mine caught a 9 pound and a 7 pound walleye in one night a few years ago. That same night I caught a 5 pounder myself.

Stubs,

what were you using to catch those fish? Leeches?

I think mine was on just a leadhead and a leech. My friend was at a different campsite but I think that is what he used, just bouncing it vertically off the bottom. They were all in in the evening.

When you get tired of pulling up nine pound walleyes, give top-water bass fishing a try. It is a total blast! Disappointment has both largemouth and smallmouth.

Snowbank is the best and shortest shot. I have only been their in October and had cold and wet conditions the hole time even a touch of snow. We did not have much luck with the fish.
