You can pick up your permit in Duluth at the Superior Natl Forest Supervisors office, located at 806 Grand Avenue Place. I have done that for both of my trips this summer. That way you can take your time in Duluth, or see the sites along the north shore. Plus you don't have to race too the other stations before they close. I cant recall the hours there but here is their phone number if you need it. (218) 626-4300 Hope this helps.
