Heading up in 10 days. YEA! Just wondering how long it will take to get from ep41 to Omega lake? Hows the portage between Upper Cone and Cliff? Going in on a Saturday I'm a little worried about finding a campsite on Brule so I thought we should haul butt up to Winchel or Omega. But if we do find a site around the Cone's we might just snag it up.

Biggest factor will be wind on Brule. We came south into that area a couple weeks ago. I stayed on the single site on Middle Cone. Good thing, cuz the site on South Cone (a nice site) was taken and Cone Bay on Brule was full. On the way down, we floated the canoes through the small rapids on all the Cone portages. Not sure if water levels will still allow this. The portage from Upper Cone to Cliff isn't too bad....one of the less hilly ones we did that day. Winchell was not busy. The site on Middle Cone is not great, but adequate.
Once across Brule, it should not take you too long to make Winchell if you want/have to. If you want to make Omega, the wind will again be a factor on Winchell. Trouble is, you have to cross Winchell anyways cuz all the sites are on the north side of lake.
