Heading into Insula the first week of June, a first time BWCA traveler is coming with me. My friend asked if there are any rapids or water falls in the area. Does any one know af any nice falls or rapids in the area. No, I do not run rapids at all, they aren't worth the busted canoe, or the busted leg. Also does any one have any good fishing tips or hot spots in the area.

If you are entering at Lake One, you will portage around several sets of small rapids on your route to Insula. There should be good water going over all of them the 1st week of June yet. On your last portage, from Hudson to Insula, the trail climbs a hill and then parallels a nice set of rapids through a deep gorge. It's a very good fishing spot where these rapids dump into Hudson. The north end of Insula is also good where the river enters...and go up the river a ways.
