Looking for anyone who actually owns and would recommend a knockoff helinox camp chair. The chair will be for a child so duribility isn't super important. I saw a few on amazon/eBay and I'm hoping someone got one to try and has been pleased.

Durability isn't important for a child?

I bought this one for my 11 year old for our trip last summer. I have been extremely happy with it. We now keep it in the trunk of the car and I have pulled it out and used it several times. I'm 6'5" 265 and it holds me just fine. No issues with it.

I bought one just like the one Stimpy linked. I have been happy with it. Can't compare it to the helinox beings I have only owned the one considered a knock off. The larger chair, similar to the helinox sunset? can be found for only a few dollars more.

Someone here recommended this one and I bought one last year. Just can't get comfortable in it myself, but my wife loves it. One thing I would recommend is tennis balls on the feet if you are using it in sandy or gravelly areas.

The eBay knockoff chairs are comfortable and would work great for what you need. Neither these chairs nor the Helinox chairs are going to be lightweight, around two pounds each.

I'd call the REI Flex Lite a reasonable facsimile as compared to the Chair One.

I also have one of these. I think it weighs around 1lb and clips easily to the outside of my bag. I clip it on both ends so it doesn't swing and it works great. You can't shift around too much in it, I am afraid the poles would slip out and it would collapse if I did, but for just sitting there its fine. It can probably handle more than I give it credit for but I prefer to take it easy with it to play it safe. For the price, it is hard to go wrong.

I have the same chair also. Chair works great. I bought it based on another post where a member compared the knockoff with a Helinox side by side and could not see any differences. Only issue I have had is one of the feet disappeared when someone else was using it in camp. I spent an afternoon whittling a new foot.

Question: When people use plastic golf balls or tennis balls to replace the feet, do you remove the stock feet?

I use small dog-toy tennis balls and just slide them over the existing feet on all our chairs.

No, and I recommend wiffle balls rather than tennis balls. They stay cleaner, dry faster, don't absorb water.

I use the plastic golf balls that are like a small whiffle ball. They fit nicely in the case with the chair. Got them in Dayglo orange to spot easier.

Plastic golf balls and wiffle balls; both great ideas! I'd use the wiffle balls around here because of the greater surface area and the soft gravel on the river.
