I have been looking for a good spinning reel with a bait clicker option and am hoping I have found it. Does anyone have any experience with the Okuma ABf B series? I ordered a couple in size 30 for ice fishing and summer fishing.
The bait clicker actually has its own drag so it can alert you when the lure/bait is being taken but provide as much or as little resistance to the fish. I like using this type of feature when deadsticking, and try to replace the bobber with this method at times when I do not want to jig from the canoe.
I have no experience with this type of real. I assume you have to remember to turn off the bait clicker function and engage the drag before you set the hook? Sounds to me it would cause a lot of gut hooked fish. Have you tried circle hooks?
The bait clicker function actually turns of automatically when you reel forward or you can manually turn it off. I don't see much or any difference between this function and a bobber for fit hooking fish. I am interested in this feature over a bobber as to provide even less resistance, while also being able to use split shot/floating jig head combinations.
